Applications are now open for the Honjo Foundation Scholarship 2027 in Japan. This is an excellent opportunity for international students to pursue master’s and PhD degrees at prestigious universities in Japan through the Hanjo Foundation Scholarship.
Financial aid:
- Recipients enrolled in one- to two-year programs will receive ¥210,000 per month.
- Students undertaking three-year programs will be provided with a monthly allowance of ¥190,000.
- Those enrolled in four- to five-year programs will receive ¥160,000 each month.
- Funding is available to support participation and travel expenses for academic conferences in Japan and other countries.
- Scholars will have the opportunity to connect with and engage in an international academic community.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be non-Japanese nationals.
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or intending to join, a graduate-level program at a Japanese institution.
- Students pursuing professional graduate studies are also eligible to apply, provided they submit a detailed research proposal.
- Master’s applicants must be under 30 years of age.
- PhD applicants must be 35 years of age or older.
- Candidates should have an excellent academic record and strong research capabilities.
- Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the development of their home country.
- Candidates should have an interest in promoting friendship, mutual understanding, and cross-cultural exchange.
- A basic knowledge of Japanese is preferred for daily communication
- Applicants must not receive any other scholarship during the scholarship period.

- A two-minute video in either Japanese or English presenting the proposed research plan.
