Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political NGO established in 1990. The head office of the organization is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of Livelihood, Good Governance, WASH, and Emergency through its four regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and the central zone in a decentralized manner In 1990 NPO was officially recognized as non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization and registered with Pakistan authorities as an independent NGO. At this stage the position of Norwegian Embassy also changed from supervisory to an advisory role including provision of capacity building at individual and organizational levels. Beside continuation of financial support from Norwegian embassy NPO was able to raise fund from other international organizations like UNHCR, NRC/NCA and CWS. In 1993 the organization decided to shift parts of its activities inside Afghanistan by establishing four regional offices in the north, south, east and west of the country, while the head office of the organization was in Pakistan. In order to take active part in rehabilitation and reconstruction of the country the organization was involved in implementation of projects and program in health, agriculture, income generation, construction or rehabilitation of roads, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation structures and provision of safe and clean drinking water.

Job Summary

    • Conduct regular visits to project sites to assess the needs and challenges of farmers and project interventions.
    • Provide technical assistance and guidance to farmers on improved agricultural practices, including crop cultivation, soil management, irrigation techniques, pest and disease control.
    • Facilitate the formation and capacity building of farmer groups or cooperatives to promote collective action and resource sharing.
    • Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and orientation to promote the adoption of modern agricultural management techniques.
    • Collaborate with other project staff, government/DAIL extension workers, NGOs, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate activities and follow up project progressive interventions.
    • Collect and compile relevant data, reports, and case studies to monitor progress and evaluate the impact of project interventions.
    • Assist in the development of extension materials, including brochures, manuals, and audiovisual aids, to disseminate information to target audiences effectively.
    • Work closely with community mobilizers and agriculture officer in identification of project beneficiaries and inputs distribution.
    • Ensure gender mainstreaming and inclusion of marginalized groups in all project activities.
    • Collection of data on production and productivity, processing of agriculture with close coordination of the M&E team,

The Agriculture Extension Worker/ Subject to Donor Approval will have responsibilities that include:

    • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the extension of agriculture developments in the district and communities to the agriculture officer and the project management.
    • Help to link the farmers’ group with the service delivery organization such as Veterinary Field Units (VFUs) or any other agriculture providers. etc.
    • Coordinate to develop, manage, and conduct the workshops and trainings and other agricultural extension education models according to the seasonal calendar.
    • Identify farmers’ needs, problems, and feedback, and communicate with the project management to take action. 
    • The extension worker should work closely with farmers and livestock groups.
    • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the project management.
    • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirment

    • BSc in Agriculture Extension, Agronomy, or any related field.

              Experience:

    • At least 2 years of work experience in related fields.
    • Professional, relevant experience is required.
    • Familiarity with Agriculture and specifically Extension issues in Afghanistan is highly desirable.
    •  Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
    • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.
    •  Excellent active listening skills.
    •  Problem solving and root cause identification skills.
    • Strong analytic and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong communication skills
    • Must be a team player and able to work with and through others.
