Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political NGO established in 1990. The head office of the organization is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of Livelihood, Good Governance, WASH, and Emergency through its four regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and the central zone in a decentralized manner In 1990 NPO was officially recognized as non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization and registered with Pakistan authorities as an independent NGO. At this stage the position of Norwegian Embassy also changed from supervisory to an advisory role including provision of capacity building at individual and organizational levels. Beside continuation of financial support from Norwegian embassy NPO was able to raise fund from other international organizations like UNHCR, NRC/NCA and CWS. In 1993 the organization decided to shift parts of its activities inside Afghanistan by establishing four regional offices in the north, south, east and west of the country, while the head office of the organization was in Pakistan. In order to take active part in rehabilitation and reconstruction of the country the organization was involved in implementation of projects and program in health, agriculture, income generation, construction or rehabilitation of roads, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation structures and provision of safe and clean drinking water.

Job Summary

    • Develop and implement agricultural extension programs tailored to the needs of local farmers, with a focus on sustainable farming practices, crop diversification, and soil conservation techniques.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to farmers on improved agricultural techniques, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling.
    • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the progress of agricultural activities, assess crop health, and provide on-the-spot advice to farmers.
    • Facilitate the establishment of demonstration plots to showcase best agriculture practices and encourage adoption among community members.
    • Collaborate with local agricultural organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise for project implementation.
    • Organize training sessions and workshops for farmers on topics included in the project interventions. Embark extensive field visits, monitor the progress of activities, document lessons learned, and best practices.

The Agriculture Officer/ Subject to Donor Approval will have responsibilities that include:

    • Collect and analyze data related to agricultural production, yields, and income generation to track the impact of project interventions.
    • Prepare regular progress reports, case studies, and success stories highlighting the achievements and lessons learned from agricultural activities.
    • Ensure close communication and coordination with the project team, and district authorities regular visits, and participation in meetings; organize joint field visits and submission of reports.
    • Support the Project Manager in pursuing project-specific and other activities as and when necessary.

Job Requirment

    • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy or Agriculture Extension from a reputed university.
    • At least 3 years of progressive work experience in the similar roles in the field of food security and nutrition, livelihoods, agricultural extension, value chain and marketing projects at an INGO or Afghan NGOs.
    •  Experience in facilitating agricultural extension methodologies particularly Farmers Field School and Self-help Groups with demonstration of participatory research and technology development following Demonstration farms is preferred.
    • Management including sustainable land management and protection is a distinct plus.
    • Understanding research and survey methodologies, designing, implementing livelihood and market assessment is required.
