Founded in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization. AWEC actively advocates and raises awareness about women's and children's rights in Islam. Our core activities focus on supporting women, reducing and eventually eliminating violence, and increasing women's participation in the home and society.
Job Summary
The Social Workers will be based in Nuristan and Laghman provinces and will be directly reported to the Project Officers; the Social workers under the supervision project officer will engage communities, beneficiaries, and stakeholders and ensure effective mobilization and engagement of local communities effectively in the program.
The AWEC Jobs in Nuristan, (Community Mobilizer) will have responsibilities that include:
- Contribute to achieving the project’s results, the follow-up of activities, and beneficiaries.
- Organize community public meetings and facilitate the selection of the Committee members at district levels and support them in fulfilling their duties
- Conduct regular community meetings in the project targeted communities
- Conduct monitoring activities, data collection, and reporting
- Develop weekly updates and monthly reports on community mobilization activities
- Monitor the progress of the trainees and report to the project manager
- Identify and report any challenges/problems to the project manager and present solutions.
- Monitor the attendance of the trainees and report absenteeism.
- Any other tasks being assigned by the project officer
- Strong ability to search findings and report on time
Job Requirment
- Bachelor Degree in Social science, law, or Sharia is preferred
- At least 3-4 years of experience in social work, legal issues, case management, reporting, mobilizing communities, and organizing training
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish working relations with target communities and project team
- Fluent in speaking and writing Pashto and Dari languages
- Computer literate
- Experience in Community Development Projects
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Selected candidate undergoes PESA background check.
