Founded in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization. AWEC actively advocates and raises awareness about women's and children's rights in Islam. Our core activities focus on supporting women, reducing and eventually eliminating violence, and increasing women's participation in the home and society.

Job Summary

• The center managers will be based in Nuristan and Laghman provinces and will directly report to the Project Officers; the center managers will manage center activities and provide support, resources, and consulting services to the visiting local communities’ women and girls.

The Center Manager - Nuristan will have responsibilities that include:

• Work with women and girls in the centers to identify their needs, interests, and priorities, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet their needs
• Conduct, prepare, and help plan and organize activities with women and adolescent girls
• Adhere to and promote GBV guiding principles
• Know and understand the GBV referral pathway
• Share with the women and girls care options are available at centers
• Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other sector staff
• Ensure supplies/resources for women centers and other program activities are requested promptly and are efficiently utilized
• Track participation numbers of women and girls attending centers activities
• Manage overall center activities, resources, tools, and spaces
• Assist and support the Project officer with training management, information collection, and reporting.
• Strong ability to search findings and report on time
• Perform any other duties as required 

Job Requirment

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology/ Gender or Women's Studies/ Social Science/ Social Work or other related studies and professional experience in counseling
• Experience & Skills:      
• At least 2-3 year of experience.
• Communication skills (oral & written) in Dari / Pashto
• Selected candidate undergoes PESA background check.
• Ability to discuss sensitive issues with respect, empathy, professionalism, knowledge, and experience with community outreach and mobilization, data collection, narrative and statistical reporting.
