The Cook-Independent will have responsibilities that include:

Key Responsibilities & Operational Duties:

• Meal Preparation & Culinary Services:
  • Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious, and timely lunch for national office staff and visitors on a daily basis.
  • Cook specialized meals for international personnel and official workshops/events as required.
  • Organize and manage daily tea and coffee stations for office staff and meetings.
• Procurement & Inventory Management:
  • Conduct daily market procurement of fresh food items, ensuring cost-effectiveness and fair pricing.
  • Estimate ingredient quantities accurately to minimize waste and ensure efficient budget utilization.
  • Maintain essential food inventory, ensuring proper and safe storage of food supplies.
  • Conduct quarterly inventory checks of kitchen utensils and equipment, submitting updated lists to the supervisor every three months.
• Kitchen Sanitation & Facilities Maintenance:
  • Maintain strict standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
  • Ensure timely dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and proper daily waste disposal.
  • Execute any additional operational tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.

Job Requirment

Education & Work Experience:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant professional cooking experience, preferably within non-governmental (NGO) or international non-governmental organizations (INGO).

Key Competencies & Technical Skills:

• Literacy & Basic Accounting: Must be literate (able to read and write) with strong practical calculation skills to manage daily grocery budgets and market expenses.
• Culinary Planning: Proven skill in planning, preparing, and executing diverse meal plans tailored to varying dietary preferences.
• Background Verification: Candidates must successfully pass standard organizational background checks.

Language Requirements:

• Working knowledge and basic command of the English language to interact effectively with international staff and visitors.
