The Driver will have responsibilities that include:
- Operate and drive the assigned OUR CLIENT office vehicle(s) in a safe, responsible, and professional manner.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle(s), including routine checks of tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belts, and other essential components.
- Arrange minor repairs when necessary and ensure that the assigned vehicle(s) are kept clean, presentable, and in good working condition.
- Ensure that vehicles are serviced regularly and maintained according to the recommended service schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle spare parts and conduct a monthly inventory to monitor available stock and usage.
- Identify and use the safest and most direct routes to destinations, taking into consideration road conditions and available access routes.
- Ensure that OUR CLIENT vehicle(s) are used strictly for official and authorized purposes, in accordance with the instructions of the supervisor.
- Maintain daily vehicle log sheets and prepare monthly reports covering relevant vehicle statistics, including mileage, fuel consumption, and other required information.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling information or conversations involving OUR CLIENT and its officials. Remain alert to potential security risks and take appropriate measures to help protect OUR CLIENT personnel and property in and around the vehicle and along transportation routes.
- Receive and assist official personnel arriving at the airport(s), including providing support with immigration and customs procedures when required.
- Collect and deliver official mail, documents, pouches, and other communications or items to and from the Kandahar Sub-office. Make official trips to post offices, airports, government institutions, UN agencies, other organizations, project locations, and other designated sites for the collection and delivery of documents and materials, while maintaining the required records.
- Provide basic administrative and clerical support to Kandahar office staff when needed, including making and answering telephone calls, photocopying documents, maintaining records, and performing other simple office-related tasks.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be assigned by the supervisor or authorized representative.
Job Requirment
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Alternatively, applicants with a high school diploma or certificate and at least 2 years of relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Possession of a valid national driver’s license is mandatory.
Experience and Skills:
- Good knowledge and understanding of applicable driving rules, regulations, and road safety practices.
- Practical experience driving different makes and models of vehicles.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and minor repairs when required.
- Familiarity with radio communication, email, telephone systems, and other commonly used communication applications.
Languages:
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Pashto is required for all applicants.
- Working knowledge of Dari is required.
- Fluency in additional national language(s) is considered a strong advantage.
