The Elevator Engineer will have responsibilities that include:

    TECHNICAL SYSTEMS UNDER RESPONSIBILITY:

     The position is responsible for the following systems:

    •  Elevator & Vertical Transportation:
    • Elevator controllers, VFDs, motors, door operators, safety circuits, interlocks, encoders, limit switches, sensors, landing/car operating panels, alarms, emergency communication, and related control systems.

    Access Control:

    • Access control panels/controllers, card and biometric readers, magnetic locks, electric strikes, exit buttons, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, power supplies, communication interfaces, and associated software/network connections.

    Electronic & BMS Controls:

    • Automated Logic control modules such as MEx816u, I/O modules, universal inputs/outputs, sensors, actuators, relays, contactors, control transformers/power supplies, terminal blocks, communication networks, and associated field wiring.

    TROUBLESHOOTING & DIAGNOSTIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The Engineer shall be capable of systematically troubleshooting issues such as:
    •  Elevator controller and drive faults.
    • Elevator door opening/closing and leveling problems.
    • Safety circuit and interlock failures.
    • Encoder, limit-switch, and sensor faults.
    • Communication failure between controllers and field devices.
    • Access card/biometric reader failures.
    • Magnetic lock and door-release problems.
    • BMS input/output signal failures.
    • Sensor and actuator malfunction.
    • 24 VAC/24 VDC control power failures.
    • Relay, contactor, terminal, and wiring faults.
    • Intermittent electronic and communication faults.
    • Repeated equipment alarms and unexplained system shutdowns.

    SAFETY & COMPLIANCE:

    • The Engineer ensures that all maintenance and troubleshooting activities are conducted in accordance with applicable electrical safety requirements, elevator safety requirements, manufacturer recommendations, approved maintenance procedures, isolation/LOTO practices, and organizational HSE policies.

Job Requirment

    Educational Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
    • Relevant professional background in elevator/lift systems, electronic controls, access control, Building Management Systems (BMS), automation, or facility maintenance.
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience in electrical and electronic troubleshooting, diagnostics, and control systems.
    • Sound understanding of control circuits, sensors, relays, contactors, PLC/BMS principles, VFDs, and communication systems.
    • Previous experience managing or supervising specialized contractors and technical service providers is considered an advantage.

    Relevant Professional Experience:

    • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in electrical/electronic engineering, elevator/lift systems, access control, BMS/automation, or facility maintenance, with proven practical experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolving technical faults.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of elevator/lift control systems, VFDs, motors, door operators, safety circuits, interlocks, sensors, encoders, and control panels.
    • Strong technical ability in electrical and electronic troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
    • Practical expertise in access control technologies, including card and biometric readers, controllers, magnetic locks, door contacts, and exit devices.
    • Good understanding of BMS/building automation and electronic control systems, including Automated Logic controllers, I/O modules, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
    • Ability to diagnose and repair 24 VAC/24 VDC control circuits, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, power supplies, and field wiring.
    • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, control wiring diagrams, panel drawings, technical manuals, and other engineering documentation.
    • Proficiency in using multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, electrical testing equipment, and manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools.
    • Strong root-cause analysis (RCA) skills with the ability to identify and address recurring equipment failures.
    • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures, as well as equipment condition assessment.
    • Ability to conduct equipment testing, commissioning, functional verification, and post-maintenance inspections.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to diagnosing complex technical issues.
    • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and make sound technical decisions during critical equipment failures.
    • High level of safety awareness, particularly when working with elevators, electrical equipment, and control systems.
    • Strong organizational, planning, and maintenance management capabilities.
    • Ability to supervise contractors and assess the technical performance of specialized service providers.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical reports.
    • Ability to maintain accurate asset registers, maintenance records, troubleshooting reports, service histories, and technical documentation.
    • Strong teamwork, coordination, and knowledge-sharing skills.
    • Commitment to continuous improvement, system reliability, efficient maintenance, and reducing equipment downtime.
