The Guard will have responsibilities that include:

    • The Watchman/Guard is responsible for maintaining the security of the assigned area and reporting any loss, theft, or disappearance that occurs within the assigned premises.
    • Remain alert and vigilant at all times while on duty.
    • Conduct regular patrols of the assigned area to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
    • Remain at the duty station until the next-shift Watchman/Guard arrives. If the next-shift staff member does not report for duty for any reason, immediately inform the Supervisor and remain on duty until properly relieved.
    • Immediately report to the Supervisor any missing, damaged, or lost property within the MdM premises.
    • Control access to the MdM premises. Only authorized MdM project personnel may enter without prior approval. Visitors must remain outside the gate until permission to enter is granted by a member of the MdM supervision team. All visitors who are not MdM staff must be properly recorded in the visitors’ register.
    • Keep the yard and compound of the MdM premises clean, organized, and well maintained.
    • Check that all security lights within the MdM compound are functioning properly and immediately report any faults or problems to the Supervisor.
    • Assist the MdM team with loading and unloading trucks or vehicles when requested.
    • Take proper care of all equipment and materials provided for security duties, ensure they remain in good working condition, and promptly report any damaged or malfunctioning items.
    • Ensure that all building doors are properly closed and locked at night.
    • Report any security-related incidents, concerns, or unusual activities to the Supervisor without delay.

    Garden and Compound Duties:

    • Water the plants when necessary and take proper care of the garden and surrounding areas.
    • Dispose of rubbish in the designated area or burn it where appropriate and permitted.
    • Ensure that the water tank remains adequately filled at all times.

    Generator Duties:

    • Switch the generator on and off according to the established schedule or as instructed by MdM management.
    • Before starting the generator, clean it and check the oil level, filter, and other relevant components. Immediately report any maintenance issue or abnormality to the Supervisor.
    • Ensure that the generator fuel tank is kept adequately filled and never falls below one-quarter (1/4) of its capacity.
    • Maintain an accurate logbook covering fuel consumption and generator maintenance records.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Participate in internal work meetings when required and inform the Supervisor of any logistical issues or concerns.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all work-related information.
    • Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned or required based on operational needs.

Job Requirment

    • Completion of high school (12th grade) is required. Candidates with at least three years of relevant work experience, particularly with international or local NGOs (I/NGOs), are preferred.
    • Ability to understand and communicate in basic English, including common terms related to time, directions, and daily work. Fluency in Dari and Pashto is required.
    • Demonstrates strong punctuality, reliability, and commitment to MdM programs and responsibilities.
    • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and report any incidents immediately to the relevant Supervisor.
    • Demonstrates a strong sense of confidentiality and discretion when handling work-related information.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of security procedures and safety measures.
