An international non-profit humanitarian help organization called INTERSOS seeks to provide aid to individuals who are in danger as well as victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Since its founding in 1992, it has operated under the principles of respect for variety and peaceful coexistence, human dignity, solidarity, justice, and equal rights and opportunities for all, with a focus on the most vulnerable and unprotected. INTERSOS is an autonomous organization that efficiently responds to the needs of individuals in dire conditions of crisis, primarily in the world’s poorest areas, by means of its own humanitarian operators. These individuals suffer, deny themselves of basic necessities, dignity, and rights. It keeps its operational structure adaptable.
Job Summary
- To regularly make a check around the compound, checking doors and INTERSOS assets.
- To report any security incidents or irregularity to the person in charge.
- To ensure that only authorized persons are allowed to enter into the INTERSOS premises (GH & Office).
The INTERSOS Jobs in Kandahar, (Watchman) will have responsibilities that include:
- Ensure the main gate should always be closed properly and must remain closed all the time.
- Prior to opening the door, a visual must be done to check outside.
- Ensure the safety and security of the office by screening visitors at the main gate of the office (no weapons allowed),
- All visitors must be duly registered and escorted inside the premises.
- Guards should make sure before letting the visitor in, that he is invited by INTERSOS staff.
- Ensure the safety and security of INTERSOS staff and properties.
- Manage the flow of INTERSOS staff and visitors and vehicles at the main gate.
- All lights (inside INTERSOS Office &GH) must be switched on when dark and must be switched off during daylight.
- Must stay awake all night long. Lights in the guards’ room must be switched on all night.
- Do rounds inside the INTERSOS Office and guesthouse compound and check outside through the CCTV monitor.
- Must inform direct supervisor (Base A&R Manager-Central) of any possible safety threats that can hamper INTERSOS premises or anything unusual in the street.
- Guards’ room must be kept clean and safe at any time.
- To use the radios for communications as per procedure.
- Ensure access control and visitor procedures are strictly followed.
- Conduct ID card checks for INTERSOS personnel and visitors.
- Search all vehicles entering INTERSOS compounds.
- Search visitors and packages entering INTERSOS compounds if instructed to do so by a Supervisor.
- Check that INTERSOS Gate Pass supports the removal of assets and items from the premises.
- Maintain log/occurrence book and ensure that paper entries are made.
- Conduct traffic control at the gates and exit points when necessary.
- Report any security-related information, incidents and irregularities to the Access Manager through the shift leader.
- Watchmen will submit a shift incident log.
- Assist other personnel as and when required.
- Any other task assigned by the Access Manager and Direct Supervisor.
- Objective 2: Housing

- Activities/Main duties:
- May be requested to help handle some material inside the INTERSOS compound.
- Operate water pump when needed.
- Ensure that the generator is well maintained (fuel, water and oil). Switch on and off the generator when needed, report malfunctioning, fill the generator logbook and conduct other logistics-administrative support tasks if requested by the supervisor.
- International staff member’s privacy must be scrupulously respected; the employee should not enter private areas of the GH if he is not invited to do so.
- To brief the guard coming on switch duty.
- Available to work over holidays and at night (shift and rotation system).
- Attend training courses when organized and requested relevant to safety and security.
- Objective 3: Expat Escort and Field Visits
- Watchmen are required to accompany and escort INTERSOS staff from office to GH and vice versa.
- Watchmen are required to escort and accompany expats during field visits in Kabul, Kandahar and Zabul regional offices’ operational areas.
Job Requirment
- High School certificate or Baccalaureate degree.
- 3 + years of relevant experience as security guard with INGOs is required.
- The candidate must have formal training with INSO or Private Security Companies
- The candidate age must be 23-25 years old not older than 35-40
- English, Pashto and Dari skills are required.
- Previous experience working for an international NGO is preferable.
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
- Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
- MoI Police Security Clearance Check and Security Background Check is Mandatory.
