An international non-profit humanitarian help organization called INTERSOS seeks to provide aid to individuals who are in danger as well as victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Since its founding in 1992, it has operated under the principles of respect for variety and peaceful coexistence, human dignity, solidarity, justice, and equal rights and opportunities for all, with a focus on the most vulnerable and unprotected. INTERSOS is an autonomous organization that efficiently responds to the needs of individuals in dire conditions of crisis, primarily in the world’s poorest areas, by means of its own humanitarian operators. These individuals suffer, deny themselves of basic necessities, dignity, and rights. It keeps its operational structure adaptable.
Job Summary
- To contribute to a reduced morbidity and mortality associated with malnutrition, diseases and hazards resulting from deficient (or non-existing) health and nutrition services, environmental health conditions and protection environment in conflict-affected communities in Kandahar and Kabul provinces – Afghanistan.
The INTERSOS Jobs in Zabul, (Medical Doctor ) will have responsibilities that include:
- Clinical examination of all patients with signs of complicated pathologies or presenting complication or referrals from the nurse.
- Prescribe routine and basic treatments according the protocol used in respecting the drug dosage based on the weight of the patient
- Follow-up of the severe and complicated cases.
- Adapt and change of medical treatment as required.
- Collect the number of new admissions and exits and attendance based on the register.
- Work in collaboration with the nurses and Midwifes to ensure quality medical care provision.
- Work as a member of the team, taking in consideration the non-medical problems encountered by the patients (feeding and caring problems).
- Complete and properly fill the individual card with the medical information.
- Transmit clear instruction to the nurse on medical care and specific monitoring of the patient.
- Screen children and PLWs for SAM&MAM and refer complicated cases to HFs.
- Refer complicated cases of SAM and children illnesses to referral hospital.
- Provide therapeutic treatment for beneficiaries in the third level of catchment areas around HFs as determined by the health program team.
- Follow up program defaulters and provides treatment or refer to HFs.
- Compile weekly and monthly reports and share with line manager timely.
- Assist the program team on gathering monthly reporting data from supported HFs
- Participate in the mobilization campaigns and collect the report form the CHWs
- Raise regularly supply request to line manager and ensure securing of mobile team supplies including therapeutic food and drugs.
- Work in collaboration with the mobile team members to achieve INTERSOS and MoH goal.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirment
- Advanced university degree in medicine or other paramedical studies. Desirable degree in Public Health.
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience as Medical doctor in the humanitarian sector
- Experience with monitoring tools and systems in the health and nutrition sectors
- English, Pashtu and Dari skills are required.
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
- Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
- Experience in trainings and capacity building / development of staff is desirable.
- Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
