The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, including the conflict in Ukraine and the crisis in Afghanistan. The IRC opened the country program in Afghanistan in 1988. Our programs span the range from humanitarian relief to early recovery and development activities, focusing on child protection, education, economic wellbeing, health, and power. The IRC works in 10 provinces throughout Afghanistan, among which some of the most security volatile, and employs over 1000 staff.
Job Summary
- Develop and update the Social Mobilization Strategy and Community-activity Guide for School Management Shuras as required
- Manage the planning and implementation of social mobilization activities/interventions in target provinces
- Develop and update training packages/materials for the IRC education team. Orient and support the IRC education team and IP’s technical team on the finalized training packages/materials to use it professionally to ensure smoothly implementation of the social mobilization activities in project locations
- Conduct ToT (Training of Trainers) to IRC technical team and project partners’ technical team as well as MoE staff who will serve as social mobilization trainer at the provincial or district level
- Conduct regular visits to program sites to supervise social mobilization activities implementation in the ground and engage respective local stakeholders
- Maintaining close coordination with PEDs and IRC partner organizations especially with technical team to ensure proper implementation of the project social mobilization interventions in the field
- Work closely with the MERL director and EMIS Manager and other technical advisors/staff on monitoring community engagement and social mobilization activities/approach to inform project management, technical programming, and development of best practices .
- Utilize monitoring findings to inform programmatic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Support IM team to ensure, accurate valued and verified data collection, data analyses and timely reporting to the center base on the program requirement Maintain effective working relations with PEDs, DEDs and involved stockholders in all program’s relevant activities on appropriate manners
- Assess the training needs of the IRC education team and project partners' technical staff.
The IRC Jobs in Kabul, (Mobilization Manager) will have responsibilities that include:
- Provide technical and implementation support to the education team in meeting the project/s deliverables
- Maintaining close coordinate with the education team in order to provide necessary technical support in Teacher Training and Shura’s training interventions
- Attend forums and meetings of the education projects as per the program requirements .
- Facilitate regular coordination meetings with stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and collaborative solutions.
- Document and disseminate lessons learned, best practices, and innovative approaches from the social mobilization activities.
- Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by the line manager
- Provision of the on the job support to the subordinates
- Abide by IRC personnel policies and regulations; follow any new procedures and guidelines introduced in circulars from Country Office
- Report any violations of the IRC Mandatory Reporting Policy. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members.
- Assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of any kind of abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by IRC and other humanitarian workers.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager/or program management
Job Requirment
- Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent, master’s degree is preferable.
- 4-5 years extensive experiences in Social Mobilization domain
- Excellent working knowledge and skills in education project implementation
- Strong working knowledge and skills in training manuals, and tools development and capacity building
- Able to mentor and support program team as well as implementing partner teams at central and field level.
- Excellent coordination and reporting skills.
- Fluency and strong communication skills in Pashto, Dari and English
- Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage.
- Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
