Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political NGO established in 1990. The head office of the organization is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of Livelihood, Good Governance, WASH, and Emergency through its four regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and the central zone in a decentralized manner In 1990 NPO was officially recognized as non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization and registered with Pakistan authorities as an independent NGO. At this stage the position of Norwegian Embassy also changed from supervisory to an advisory role including provision of capacity building at individual and organizational levels. Beside continuation of financial support from Norwegian embassy NPO was able to raise fund from other international organizations like UNHCR, NRC/NCA and CWS. In 1993 the organization decided to shift parts of its activities inside Afghanistan by establishing four regional offices in the north, south, east and west of the country, while the head office of the organization was in Pakistan. In order to take active part in rehabilitation and reconstruction of the country the organization was involved in implementation of projects and program in health, agriculture, income generation, construction or rehabilitation of roads, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation structures and provision of safe and clean drinking water.

Job Summary

• Conduct outreach activities to engage with livestock farmers and assess their needs, challenges, and opportunities.
• Provide training and capacity-building sessions on topics such as animal health, nutrition, breeding, and disease prevention.
• Help farmers to plan and implement the livestock activities.
• Collection of data on production and productivity, processing of livestock products, breed development, feeding, forage production/conservation, involvement of male and female farmers in management and marketing, mortality of animals/birds, animal diseases, marketing of livestock products etc.

The Livestock Extension Worker/ Subject to Donor Approval ( 2 Vacancies ) will have responsibilities that include:

• Report the issues of livestock farmers to the livestock officer and project manager.
• Report any outbreak of animal/livestock disease to nearest VFUs immediately.
• Assist farmers in implementing sustainable livestock management practices and improving productivity.
• Offer guidance on proper animal husbandry techniques, including feeding, housing, and breeding.
• Monitor and evaluate livestock health and production indicators, identifying areas for improvement and intervention.
• Collaborate with Livestock officer, veterinarians, and other stakeholders to coordinate extension activities and resources effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions, field visits, and other extension activities.
• Provide timely reports on progress, challenges, and successes to project supervisors and partners.

Job Requirment

• Graduate in Animal Science or graduate on Veterinary Science or Agriculture with major in Animal Science or diploma in the related field will be of advantage.
• Training in any discipline of animal science / veterinary science related with livestock extension will be of an advantage.
• Working experience of at least 2 years with farmer groups/community development, preferably in livestock.
• Experience in farmer training.
• Experience in working with the livestock/agriculture farmers.
• Experience in data collection and reporting.
• Should have good communication skills with farmers and other stake holders.
