The Project Manager will have responsibilities that include:
Essential Job Responsibilities
Design & Planning:
- Develop and update project implementation plans.
- Apply community-based approaches and protection principles
- Coordinate with Mercy Corps departments and the MEL team on assessments and monitoring.
Program Management:
- Prepare procurement plans and manage assigned budgets.
- Define project indicators and monitoring methods.
- Supervise implementation and ensure compliance with grant requirements and Mercy Corps policies.
- Prepare timely reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Identify implementation challenges and develop practical solutions.
Team Management:
- Build staff capacity and support professional development.
- Provide guidance,resources, and constructive feedback.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and a respectful work environment.
- Recruit and supervise team members when required.
Representation & Security:
- Represent Mercy Corps in relevant clusters and meetings.
- Coordinate with government authorities and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
Organizational Learning & Accountability:
- Dedicate 5% of working time to learning and development.
- Promote accountability and involve beneficiaries in project design, monitoring, and evaluation.
Job Requirment
Knowledge and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian assistance, livelihoods, economic development, or program management.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with strict deadlines in challenging or unstable settings; experience in Afghanistan is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse teams.
- Professional certification in project or program management is preferred, or willingness to obtain one during the initial period of employment.
- Familiarity with Sphere standards and humanitarian response principles is desirable.
- Strong analytical, planning, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using participatory methods and engaging communities through awareness and mobilization activities.
- Ability to professionally represent Mercy Corps and engage with government authorities, national organizations, and international NGOs.
- Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
