The Psychosocial Counsellor (PSS) will have responsibilities that include:
- Facilitate regular team meetings to review project implementation plans and monitor progress.
- Provide individual and group psychosocial counselling to beneficiaries while conducting professional psychological assessments and monitoring their recovery.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records and ensure the secure handling of all beneficiary information.
- Refer beneficiaries to appropriate internal or external support services whenever additional assistance is required.
- Conduct community awareness sessions on psychosocial well-being, gender-based violence (GBV), and women's rights.
- Identify GBV-related challenges, assess access to available services, and recommend practical solutions to improve support.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions to ensure quality service delivery.
- Train staff, community members, and local partners to recognize signs of abuse, deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA), and appropriately identify and refer individuals in need of psychosocial support, including children and GBV survivors.
- Contribute to needs assessments and support the planning of future protection and psychosocial programs.
Job Requirment
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
- 1–3 years of experience in psychosocial counselling and case management, preferably supporting IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable children.
- Solid understanding of humanitarian principles, human rights, child protection, psychosocial support, and protection standards, including IASC guidelines.
- Experience conducting protection interviews, managing referrals, and providing survivor-centered support.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Fluent in Dari and Pashto (written and spoken), with a good command of English.
- Committed to confidentiality, safeguarding, PSEA, and Islamic Relief's values, mission, and humanitarian principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with INGOs or humanitarian and development organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and work effectively with diverse communities.
- Culturally aware, adaptable, and capable of working professionally in challenging environments while maintaining high ethical standards.
