Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political NGO established in 1990. The head office of the organization is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of Livelihood, Good Governance, WASH, and Emergency through its four regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and the central zone in a decentralized manner In 1990 NPO was officially recognized as non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization and registered with Pakistan authorities as an independent NGO. At this stage the position of Norwegian Embassy also changed from supervisory to an advisory role including provision of capacity building at individual and organizational levels. Beside continuation of financial support from Norwegian embassy NPO was able to raise fund from other international organizations like UNHCR, NRC/NCA and CWS. In 1993 the organization decided to shift parts of its activities inside Afghanistan by establishing four regional offices in the north, south, east and west of the country, while the head office of the organization was in Pakistan. In order to take active part in rehabilitation and reconstruction of the country the organization was involved in implementation of projects and program in health, agriculture, income generation, construction or rehabilitation of roads, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation structures and provision of safe and clean drinking water.

Job Summary

    • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of veterinary interventions in collaboration with project staff and stakeholders.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to community members and local veterinarians on animal health management, disease diagnosis, and treatment protocols.
    • Conduct regular veterinary visits to project sites to assess the health status of livestock, diagnose diseases, and administer appropriate treatments.
    • Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and refresher sessions for livestock keepers and community animal health workers on topics such as basic veterinary care, first aid, and disease surveillance.
    • Collaborate with government veterinary services, NGOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen veterinary infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and diagnostic capabilities.
    • Assist in procuring and distributing veterinary supplies, medicines, and equipment to project beneficiaries.

The Veterinarian/ Subject to Donor Approval will have responsibilities that include:

    • Collect and analyze data on livestock diseases, vaccination coverage, and veterinary services.
    • Distribution of vaccination inputs, follow-up, and tracking that all distributed animals are vaccinated.
    • Ensure compliance with national veterinary regulations and ethical standards in all project activities.
    • Record actions by documenting and updating forms, reports, and animal records and reporting diseases to the project management for further action.
    • Maintaining medical records of animals
    • Provide the reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.

Job Requirment

    • A bachelor’s degree in related field and Veterinary/ MSc degree will be preferable.
    • At least 3-5 years’ work experience in the same field with national and international organizations
    •  Strong Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Leadership and Management Skills.
    • Good communication and report writing Skills in English and one of the Local Languages
    •  Capable of working both individually and as part of a team to undertake tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Be able to work under pressure with tight deadline.
