Since then, the organisation has implemented projects in the areas of child protection, maternal and child health, and livelihood support across Kabul, Balkh, Kunar, and Nangarhar provinces.

The Security Guard will have responsibilities that include:

    • Conduct regular patrols of the assigned Tdh compound during both day and night shifts to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, facilities, and property.
    • Monitor and control all entry and exit points of the Tdh compound and prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access.
    • Verify visitors’ identification, record their details in the visitor logbook, and issue visitor passes before granting access to the compound.
    • Ensure that visitors do not enter Tdh offices without proper authorization from the staff member they intend to visit or an authorized Tdh representative.
    • Prevent suspicious packages, bags, or unidentified objects from being brought into the compound. Report any suspicious item immediately to the Security Supervisor/Line Manager and follow the instructions provided.
    • Remain vigilant and maintain a visible security presence at the assigned post throughout the entire duty period.
    • Carry out security patrols at least once every 30 minutes, checking gates, doors, windows, fences, security lighting, and other potential access points.
    • Ensure that doors and windows are properly secured after staff leave the office and immediately report any damage, weakness, or security concern.
    • Maintain awareness of the surrounding area and promptly report any suspicious individuals, activities, security incidents, threats, or unusual occurrences to the Security Supervisor/Line Manager.
    • Inspect the compound at the start of each shift and provide a complete and accurate handover to the incoming guard before leaving duty.
    • Respond quickly and appropriately to security incidents, fires, medical emergencies, attempted unauthorized entry, and other emergency situations, while immediately notifying the designated Tdh focal point.
    • Assist with the safe evacuation of staff and visitors during emergency situations when necessary.
    • Regularly check security and emergency lighting and report any damage, malfunction, or loss without delay.
    • Safeguard Tdh staff, visitors, office equipment, vehicles, documents, and other organizational property against theft, damage, loss, or unauthorized access.
    • Monitor identified safety hazards, including gas cylinders, kitchen stoves, generator fuel, and electrical equipment, and immediately report any concerns or unsafe conditions.
    • Monitor the generator and other essential facility systems and promptly report any malfunction to the Logistics Manager or designated responsible person.
    • Assist authorized staff with the loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing materials when required, while ensuring that security responsibilities are not compromised.
    • Keep the assigned security post and surrounding compound clean, orderly, and safe in accordance with the duty roster and applicable requirements.
    • Strictly follow the approved duty roster, security procedures, and all instructions issued by the Security Supervisor/Line Manager.
    • Be available for day and night shifts, weekends, public holidays, and religious holidays/days in accordance with the duty roster prepared by the supervisor, ensuring uninterrupted security coverage of Tdh premises.
    • Inform the supervisor as early as possible in the event of any absence, delay, or inability to report for the assigned duty.
    • Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire shift. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited.
    • Do not leave the assigned security post or Tdh compound during duty hours without prior authorization and an approved replacement.
    • Maintain a professional, respectful, courteous, and cooperative attitude when dealing with Tdh staff, visitors, contractors, and other individuals.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning Tdh staff, visitors, security arrangements, incidents, and any other sensitive information encountered during duty.
    • Report all security incidents, suspicious activities, damage, loss, safety concerns, and other relevant issues immediately through the established reporting channels.
    • Perform any other reasonable security-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor/line manager in accordance with Tdh policies, procedures, and operational requirements.

Job Requirment

    Education:

    • A high school graduation certificate is mandatory for this position.

    Experience and Skills:

    • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience with an international or national NGO, UN agency, or a similar organization is required.

    Languages:

    • Good knowledge of both Pashto and Dari is required.
    • Knowledge of English is considered an advantage.

    • Contribute to raising awareness of the risks associated with non-compliance, violence, abuse, and related rights and responsibilities concerning children, community members, and Tdh employees.
    • Comply with key ethical policies and organizational guidelines, including the Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy, Conflict-of-Interest Policy, and policies relating to the prevention of terrorist financing, criminal activities, and inappropriate workplace behaviour.
    • Put Tdh’s values and principles into practice through responsible and exemplary professional conduct, while fully adhering to the Code of Conduct and established procedures and processes.
    • Contribute to building a culture of compliance, accountability, awareness, and ethical conduct within the organization and throughout Tdh’s engagement with children and the communities in which it operates.
