The Driver will have responsibilities that include:

    Major Activities / Responsibilities:

    • Transport MSH personnel safely, securely, and on schedule while maintaining passengers’ confidence throughout each journey.
    • Keep the assigned vehicle operational and well-maintained by arranging regular servicing, cleaning, minor repairs, and necessary major repairs.
    • Operate the vehicle efficiently and responsibly to reduce unnecessary fuel and maintenance expenses.
    • Perform thorough vehicle inspections before departure and after completing each trip.
    • Confirm that all journeys have the required and approved travel authorization.
    • Work with the Administration Unit to organize and coordinate transportation schedules.
    • Keep the vehicle logbook, trip records, and other required documentation complete and accurate.
    • Monitor the validity of vehicle registration, insurance, licenses, and other mandatory documents.
    • Assist with general office support, including maintaining workplace cleanliness and delivering or collecting documents when requested.
    • Take appropriate measures to protect the vehicle and remain aware of road, weather, and security conditions that could affect safe transportation.
    • Strictly comply with traffic laws, road regulations, and designated speed limits.
    • Maintain secure custody of the vehicle keys at all times.
    • Perform routine checks and maintenance and properly handle all equipment and accessories assigned to the vehicle.
    • Ensure all essential vehicle documents are available and up to date.
    • Operate vehicle-related equipment such as 4x4 systems, GPS/navigation tools, radios, and winches when required.
    • Have practical knowledge of changing tires and jump-starting a vehicle battery.
    • Regularly check the vehicle’s mechanical condition, safety features, and general readiness.
    • Maintain an updated vehicle log sheet and prepare an accurate report for every completed journey.
    • Ensure adequate fuel, engine oil, and other essential fluids are available before and during travel.
    • Carry basic emergency supplies such as drinking water, snacks, a first-aid kit, road flares, and a charged mobile phone when necessary.
    • Keep required safety and maintenance tools in the vehicle, including a fire extinguisher, jack, tire iron, spanner, and other equipment required under the Fleet Management Plan.
    • Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle both inside and outside.
    • Immediately report traffic penalties, accident-related damages, or repair costs resulting from negligence to the designated Security and Transport Officer or the Finance, Administration, and Finance Manager.

Job Requirment

    Required Minimum Education:

    • Completion of secondary/high school education.

    Required Minimum Experience:

    • At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience in a similar environment or organization.
    • Valid Afghan driver’s license.
    • Previous experience as a professional driver or chauffeur.
    • Practical experience driving in conflict-affected or challenging areas.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Strong driving skills with basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
    • Good knowledge of main roads, landmarks, and local streets.
    • Familiarity with current traffic laws and road safety regulations.
    • Understanding of cost-effective vehicle use, including timely servicing, repairs, spare-parts replacement, and efficient trip scheduling.
    • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and renew it when required.
    • Ability to provide evidence of a good driving record.
    • Capability to perform basic vehicle repairs; automotive mechanic experience is an advantage.
    • Physical ability to lift and handle heavy items and perform demanding tasks when necessary.
    • Basic administrative and calculation skills are preferred.
    • Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, patient, adaptable, and positive in attitude.
    • Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in local languages and English.

    Competencies:

    • Willingness to provide general office support whenever required.
    • Ability to ensure passengers feel safe and secure while providing reliable and timely transportation.
